twitterfeed.com

I posted earlier about a service that Wordpress had for automatically updating a twitter feed from the RSS of another blog. Doing some more research I discovered twitterfeed.com which is a service that does exactly that but is independent of your blogging tool. That's great because I use blogger. :)

I'm using this post to test twitterfeed out. I also set it up so that if you follow me on twitter you'll receive my latest flickr photos.

I'll let you know what I think of the service after I've used it for a while.

Concept Perception

How's that for an abstract phrase? Think about it for a moment. The perception of a concept.

Concept Perception is a creative endeavor that I am pursuing on flickr. I'm taking concepts, ideas, or words (dictionary.com word of the day) and illustrating them using photography. I'm taking my perception and communicating it. Leave a comment about your perception of the photo or the word. The project is communal and I hope that people will join me.

Here is a sample: "Writer's Block"

A tale of Old MacDonald

A repost from the baby blog.

The classic story of Old MacDonald and his farm as told by my son, Rogan. Make sure you watch it all the way to the end. There's a surprise waiting for you after the credits. :)

This little gem was made using After Effects and QuickTime Pro. Of course the real substance of the piece was my very talented son, Rogan.

Enjoy.

Another Bus Tour, Microsoft Style

Microsoft is doing a bus tour to highlight the new technologies and software they've developed for the interactive/web communities. It will highlight their new Expression Suite and Silverlight. The bus tour called "The Code Trip" is set to kick off in 2008.

I've been looking for some ways to learn Silverlight for work and this could be a good opportunity to jump right in. Of course it doesn't hurt that reposting this link on my blog should get me some swag!

My big reason for doing this is MS is one of our biggest clients. As a flash developer/designer I know we could get a lot more business from MS if we used Silverlight. I've told my boss I was willing to learn. I'm interested in learning about any plans MS has to cater to the Flash community since in some cases they are direct competitors. Will they try to convert them, work with them, create modules to allow Action Script and MXML to integrate or even be swappable with Visual Basic/C# and XAML. Now that would be cool!

Paul Potts

I saw it on Oprah. No matter how many times I see and hear this performance it brings me joy. No doubt the song doesn't hurt, but what a fabulous story and an amazing talent. Go buy Paul Potts CD!

Truly amazing!

American English.

This [insert medium here] is "Written in the universal language of American English"

Did I peak your interest? Which Part?

I read this quote on a website selling a book. One of the selling points was "Written in the universal language of American English." That peaked my interest. What implications could there be for a universal language? I've been waiting for the universal translator myself. A Bable Fish of sorts. Instead, it seems that American English is becoming universal. All implications aside, it is convenient to be fluent in American English, but I've always wanted to learn another language and it's becoming less and less necessary for me to speak another language in our modern times. Now I'm a bableing fish...

I believe that the only true universal language is experience. That's why pictures are so powerful. Pictures express experience. It's also why visual communication is so universal. Think about international signage, the simplicity in the message, but the richness of the communication. The simple stick figure, the skull and crossbones, the STOP SIGN. Think about it. Pictures are their own language, and they communicate through experience. It's much more universal than American English will ever be.

Peter Elst...he's a smart guy

Peter Elst's Thought Of the Day

Web 2.0 is a marketing term for slightly less crappy web based forms under the guise of being an application...read more

It's funny how marketing buzz words catch on, I remember back when I was in college (the first time) and "world wide web" and "internet" were all the rage. There there's the iPod and the mobile media revolution. Creating market buzz has really just about taking the demands of the market and packaging it up in a pretty box with a bow on top. Listening to music on the go isn't a new concept, neither is mobile applications...

Web 2.0 3.0 4.0 v1 v2 v3....where will it all end? When we superheat the earth into an ice age, that's where. And there's the latest marketing buzz "green".

What's next?
