The weather is changing to fall up here in the Northwest. With rain in the forecast everyday this week and temperatures dropping into the 50s its time to break out some warmer clothes.Sweet! This gives us a chance to take some more pictures!

Rogan is sporting his whale encrusted blue cotton jacket with reverse-able sea creature lining, large blue striped pants inspired by Jeffrey Sebelia (Project Runway) and rocker hairdo straight from the clubs of Las Vegas.
Looking sharp kid, looking sharp! Next we'll teach you Blue Steel.

I think the picture says it all.
Andrea has found new coping methods to get through the day. Rogan enjoys the Baby Bjorn carrier. Andrea enjoys it too because she has 2 free hands! Amazing.

The Baby Bjorn in action.
Not to be outdone by Andrea's smile, Rogan has to put on a little face for the camera. I think he's starting to recognize when he's on camera as lately he's been staring right at it. Either that or he's found something shiny that he can focus on now! :)

"I know my mom is gorgeous, but you still should be looking at me!"

We took Rogan to his one-month checkup today. Everything checks out great. He weighed in at an even 9 lbs. and measured 21.5 inches. For those of you interested, his head measured 37.5 cm putting him just under the 50th percentile for all three.Rogan also had his first shot. It went well, the prick was nothing, but once he felt the medicine, he got a little fussy. A quick band-aid and he was back to looking like this...

We celebrated Rogan's one month birthday today with an intimate party consisting of silly baseball party hats, Andrea's non-dairy banana cream pie, and Nana's pot pie (yum).
I thought it was a good idea to decorate the pie with a binky, how do you think it turned out? :)

Look at Rogan's new hat!

Cute Family Photo.
According to the books and friends and family, Andrea and I have a lot of cool things to look forward too in month two. For one, Rogan's ability to track things will improve. It's getting better already as you can see from the pictures below of him in his swing. We can also look forward more cooing, a real smile, and him starting to grab for things.

Yo, how's the air up there?

Now how am I going to get that into my mouth? (paying homage to the classic, Look Who's Talking)
There are some videos of the event up on RoganVision.
Happy one-month birthday little man!

I haven't been a dad very long. It's funny to think about how much my life has changed since I became a dad. Things that weren't important, now are. Things like proximity, specifically proximity to my family. This week I attended the Flashforward conference in Boston. It's a great place for me to meet other industry professionals, get inspiration and advance my career. The conference lived up to my expectations and exceeded them in many cases, but the thing that threw me was how much I missed Rogan and Andrea. I was surprised at how ready I was to come home even before the conference was over.
Even while I was having a great time with my peers and learning exciting new things, I was a lonely. I did get a little baby fix in though. I met up with some friends Jesse and Jessi and their little boy Eamon. It was really cool to see how big they get at one year old. Yikes!!! Meeting up with them was enough to give me my fix of baby for the first day. It was day two that really got to me. I called Andrea up twice a day just to stay close and see how she was doing. She had help from Nana while I was gone. That made it much easier to leave in the first place knowing she wasn't alone.
Before I left I asked Andrea to send lots of picture messages to my phone, help me feel like I was there. (again multimedia phones = good). She did, and it helped, but still there was something missing. The pictures are super cute though! Take a look.

Rogan's bright eyes :)

I bet that was a fun walk.

I think someone has a new friend.
I also found another way to help me feel closer. Talk about them. I had a new networking icebreaker; my family. Many of the people attending this conference have families and it was something other than Flash that we could talk about passionately. Typically I'd be the one brining it up because I'm so excited about Rogan. But you could see peoples faces light up when they saw how excited I was about my newborn child. It brought them back to a time when their child was new. It made for some great conversations and some real connections where there could have easily been superficial ones.
Bottom line, I missed my family while I was gone and writing this blog post sitting in the airport waiting to board makes me happy.
I'll be home soon.
