Rogan's Big 1st Birthday Party!
Saturday, August 30, 2008, 08:58 PM
If anyone reading this blog isn't already aware, Andrea and her mother can really throw a party. Rogan's first birthday was no exception. Andrea was getting things prepped weeks in advance. And the day before the party Nana came over to help decorate the super cool ducky cake. The theme for the party was splish splash because Rogan LOVES being in the water.

As a special treat, my parents Grandma Fuzzy and Grandpa came out with my grandparents GGD and GGM :) It was the first time they had a chance to meet Rogan. Very exciting.

What a cool cake, amazing!

They didn't stop with just a cool cake, they set up the whole backyard with balloons, a tent and of course the food!

Rogan has really become interested in walking lately. He's not quite able to do it yet, but he's more than happy to waddle around holding on to someone. Opa provided the necessary hands for much of the day.

Rogan wanted to go see what cousin David was up to.

As per usual, Rogan was showing off for the camera.

Grandma Fuzzy was very excited to play with Rogan on his new swing set.

After a BBQ lunch, we opened presents. As you can see Rogan had quite a stack. Not pictured here was the swing set and a new sandbox which Uncle Alex and Aunt Jess gave Rogan. Look at all that stuff.

This cool Xylophone was a cool gift from GGD and GGM.

Rogan got a cool Red Wagon from Grandma and Grandpa Davidson. Rogan was instantly enjoying it.

This picture was taken showcasing everyone that helped put Rogan's wagon together. Apparently it was quite the scene with all these engineers working together to assemble this thing. So what else could we do, we all took a picture together to celebrate a successful assembly

Then Opa took over and gave Rogan and David a ride around the yard. The wagon has been such a hit, we took it to the Zoo the next day and Rogan was having a great time. It was the envy of other kids. There were all turning to their parents and saying what cool wagon that is. The canopy makes it. :)

Time for Cake! Check out the Applesauce cake Mommy made for Rogan. It was a big hit.

Now for the moment you've all been waiting for...BIRTHDAY CAKE MESS

Happy Birthday Rogan. How great it was to spend it with all our wonderful family members.

Rogan starts Daycare
Thursday, August 28, 2008, 11:52 AM
Rogan spent his first day at Daycare on Tuesday. He had a good day. He played with the toy mobile phones, the foam Legos, rode the cars around the playground, and practiced his walking.

Today I dropped Rogan off at daycare for the second time. Now Rogan is really smart. Andrea and I typically just need to show him how to do something once and he's ready to start doing it himself. Today, Rogan figured out that when Daddy brings him to daycare, Daddy is going to leave. Rogan wasn't too happy about that. Picture an open hand reaching out a small body leaning toward his daddy with tears in his eyes crying out loud as you walk out the door. That sucked! Really, it SUCKED!

I waved goodbye to Rogan through the window and started driving away. My saving grace for the day; by the time I'd backed up my car and stared pulling away, a final glance in the room revealed him smiling. He was looking down at all the fun toys there for him to play with. It's a good thing too because I was going to be tortured today if I hadn't seen that smile.

Things will get easier for both of us. Our little boy is just growing up so fast.

Our little man is 1!!!

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear Rogan,
Happy Birthday to you!

While we were preparing for Rogan's birthday party we got started with some fun ducky cookies. They were sporting some awesome blue frosting. Rogan gave them a little taste test to make sure they were good enough for his party. I think the pictures tell you what he thought.

Rogan graduated from Baby group the day before his actual birthday. He had been going with his Mommy every week since he was 1 week old. Everyone in baby group was a big fan of his smiley face and bright eyes and they were sad to see him go. A set of twins was also graduating that day and their mother brought in cupcakes for everyone to share. Rogan got some more frosting. Yum!

Rogan and Mommy smile for the camera.

On Aug 22nd, Rogan got up pretty early. The night before we decorated the house to celebrate. Mommy and I blew up balloons, put up streamers, and hung up a fun birthday poster. Rogan also got to put on his 1 year old hat! So cute.

Rogan opening his present from Daddy. A singing Tiger and her cub.

Rogan opening his present from Mommy. I was jealous, It's a whole garage complete with cars! :)

For breakfast Rogan got to have a special treat. A pumpkin spice muffin. It was a hit. His Nana got him hooked, now it's a favorite.

Later in the day we had a fun family picnic in downtown Bellevue. We sat out in the grass and had a nice picnic.

Rogan really wanted to get out and explore. His Mommy was more than happy to help him get around the park.

To finish off the weekend we all went to the Mariners game. Someone wants to be just like his Daddy.

Please leave any birthday wishes you would like us to share with Rogan in the comments section.

An early birthday present
Saturday, August 16, 2008, 08:50 PM
Nana and Grandpa Steve got Rogan a birthday present a little early. Of course that's because they needed to set it up before the party! It was a home made swing set!

Nana and Grandpa Steve came over with Uncle Alex to help get things set up.

Rogan was checking us out while we were putting things together. He was especially fond of the power tools. I was telling him they were a little loud...

...and he got the message. :)

Of course Rogan couldn't just sit by and watch he had to come check things out.

Watching up close wasn't even enough, he had to get his hammer out and give us a hand.

Once we got everything all put together this was Rogan's first swing! Andrea didn't get to see it because she was at school getting ready for the upcoming school year. She got home a little later and got to give Rogan another special ride!

Rogan was very excited to share his swing with Nana.

Swings sets are timeless as this picture of Uncle Alex and Grandpa Steve shows. A new swing set will make you feel like you're a kid again...

Too funny!

Thanks Nana and Grandpa. We've used it every day and we can't wait to see the giant bow you're getting for the party!
