Busy Week

This past week was extremely busy for all of us. We started off my going to Ryan's baseball game Monday night (they won, yea!). Then Wednesday we had dinner with two friends of mine from high school. We hadn't seen each other for 12 years! I can't believe it had been that long. However, once we were together it was as if no time had passed at all. The strangest part was that we all had kids and it seemed completely natural. :)

Thursday Rogan and I went to Parent-Baby class as we have every week since he was 10 days old. Rogan loves interacting with the other babies and moms. All of the babies love the opportunity to explore new toys.

That night we went to Music in the Park. The Plateau has music every Thursday night at Pine Lake park. We take a picnic and hang out together listening to a different style each week. Rogan has a blast and Ryan and I get a chance to relax and have fun too.

Friday was the day I looked forward to all week. It was the Bite of Seattle. Rogan finally got to see the Space Needle for the first time. When he can walk we'll take him to the top but for now he was happy to take a look from down below.

Wow! Look at that thing!

Yummy! What a tasty treat! :)

Oh thank you for sharing you scone with me Mommy!

The best part of the evening was that Rogan had his very own paparazzi. Really! There was a family sitting near us who kept waving at him and asking questions like how old, what color his eyes are, etc... As we were getting packed up they came over and asked his name. When they got up close the two ladies started fawning over him. They couldn't get over how cute he was. We are pretty used to this since Rogan is a cutie and is EXTREMELY engaging. However, the two ladies then asked if they could take his picture! We didn't mind and Rogan loved it. :)

Who me? You want to take a picture of me? ;)

Saturday was another baseball game and a little yard work followed by another big day on Sunday. We met Oma, Opa, Aunt Renee, and Cousin David at McChord Airforce Base for the air show. Ryan and I had never been to one so it was a new experience for all of us. Ryan was pretty excited to see many of the planes in person that he built as models when he was growing up. I was impressed with how much he knew.

A C-17 that was open for walk-throughs. Wow, it was big!

An A-10 and its gatling gun (not sure about that spelling).

The little 'experimental' plane I thought was cute. :)

Pretty picture with an F-18 and Mt. Rainier in the background.

The big draw of the show was the Thunderbirds. Of course they were at the very end of a long, sunny day. Fortunately we were able to find some shade so the boys stayed pretty happy most of the time.

Here they are!

Oops! Too late! They boys couldn't quite make it and they both slept through the Thunderbirds. :) I don't know how; they were SO loud!

Even though the week was busy going here and there, Rogan still had plenty to time to hang out and play his favorite game with Daddy: Laundry Basket Fort. :)

Hidden Camera Playtime

Any nature photographer would be proud of this video. Rogan, as you all know, is very interested in the camera. As soon as he sees it, he stops whatever he's doing and goes straight for it. Well, like those nature photographers who's goal is to capture their environment without disturbing the natural order of things, we've been trying to give you all a glimpse of Rogan in his natural environment. I was able to sneak a peak of a playtime session. For those of you who know Rogan only from this blog, here is a rare glimpse. Enjoy.

Rogan and his musical tube!

Rogan found this tube attached to our Air Conditioner. He is now using it as a musical instrument. It's interesting enough to keep him from charging straight for the camera (at least at first).

New Tricks!
Wednesday, July 9, 2008, 08:46 PM
Mommy says...

Rogan and Daddy have a great time playing together. Lately Daddy has taken to putting blocks on his head to make Rogan laugh. The funny thing is, Rogan is copying him now. He can't quite get his little arm to reach the block all the way up so we help him out. Once it's up there, he is very pleased to let it stay.

Daddy and Rogan also like to play with the laundry basket. Sometimes it's a rocketship or a speeding car. Today I think it was a cave. Whatever it is, the two of them have a great time.

Rogan has another new trick that he now practices any chance he can get. He loves to open the cell phone, make some "talking" noises, and then close it up. The really exciting thing is that he now has a phone all his own. This, of course, was not our plan at all. However, Rogan and I were playing tug-o-war with my water bottle last week and he pulled the top off. This, as you can imagine, sent water flying everywhere. Unfortunately, my phone was in the wrong spot and got fried. Well, not entirely. I could still text message but sending and receiving phone calls was not happening. All in all, things worked out because Rogan got Mommy's phone, Mommy got Daddy's phone, and Daddy got an upgrade (the Blackjack II - very whizzy!).

I'm gonna do it!

Phew! I got it!

All done! :)
