To celebrate Andrea's birthday and enjoy Memorial Day weekend, we took a trip out to Paulsbo to join Oma and Opa on their boat. It was beautiful weather and it gave us a chance to take Rogan sailing for the first time.We started the day off by taking the Seattle-Bainbridge Ferry. Apparently it's a jaw dropping experience the first time...

Rogan really liked looking out the window at all the boats, but that was nothing on actually being outside to see them...

It was windy of course, but I think this picture really show that Rogan needs a haircut.

Andrea and Rogan watching the boats as we made the crossing to Bainbridge Island.
Once we arrive it was a quick drive over to Paulsbo where Oma and Opa were there to meet us and show us the way to the boat.

Oma and Opa were so excited to have us (meaning Rogan) out to visit. :)
Some people are just born to be captain...

Rogan is one of them...

...so is Opa.
As we got underway Rogan wasn't so sure about the boat coat.

Winslow wasn't sure about it either.

Rogan figured out how to climb up and down the ladder, much to the dismay of his mother and me.

Oma giving a lesson on how to be a captain.

It's hard to be captain when you can barely see over the console. Or you can only steer with your foot...

Never the less I think everyone was having a good time...
That is until it was time for a nap. The boat is a pretty exciting place and it's hard to relax and take a nap.

...especially if Daddy is driving.

Why so serious? I mean we were only traveling at 2 knots! :D
It was a great day. We finished up getting a few Seattle Skyline photos on the Ferry home.

Rogan is very excited about birthdays. He loves to hear everyone singing and then blowing out the candles. Nearly every night at dinner we have to sing Happy Birthday to Grandpa, Mama, GrandpaD, Dada and others. It's super cute. On Saturday, we got to celebrate Andrea's birthday. It was an extremely busy day. We started off with an amazing brunch a Salty's on Alki with my parents and Rogan's Great Grandma McElroy.
Later that day we had Andrea's Luau themed party at Nana and Grandpa Steve's house. The Luau theme came from Andrea's request for a coconut cake from her mom.

The Birthday Girl.

We all dressed up in our Hawaiian best. Yes we all match. :)
We all sipped on Pina Coladas.

Yes, all of us. :)

Rogan is ready to get into that coconut cake.

Blowing out the candles!

Mmmm Cake! Look at the size of the piece Nana gave him!

Gotta really open big for a bite this size.

After the cake the sugar coma set in. It was probably didn't help that we'd been running around all day. Rogan was pooped!

Everyone should be a star on their birthday!
Happy Birthday!

Uncle Alex and Aunt Jess made Rogan a sandbox for his birthday. Today the sand was added. After dealing with a termite infestation we were all able to finally enjoy the childhood toy no little boy should be without! Time for a little sand between your toes!

After years of waiting, it's time to play in a sandbox again.

Rogan and Aunt Jess enjoying the filled sandbox.

New toys for the boys!

Uncle Alex, what are you doing? Rogan's face as Uncle Alex pours water into the bucket and Grandpa Steve starts talking about liquefaction...

Liquefaction in action.

Sandcastle FAIL!

Sandcastle Success!

Grandpa Steve puts the final touches on the sand castle. A little sprinkle of fun...

Everyone got a chance to play.

Zen Garden for Daddy, Sandbox for Rogan.

Digging big holes, that's what a sandbox is all about!

Rogan's holes got so big, he needed multiple buckets to fill. :)

Grandpa Steve had a great idea for an activity on Mother's Day. We took the mothers bowling. It ended up being the perfect time. It was Rogan's first time and he started off a little timid but warmed up and was ready to start bowling in no time.
Someone is having a great Mother's Day.

Bowling with Mama!

Here we go!

Good form Dada!

After Rogan got comfortable, he made sure to clap for every single ball we threw. It was too cute!

Hooray! We got some pins!

Bowling with Nana!

Grandpa takes his bowling very seriously! :)

Well, maybe not that serious!

Nana and Grandpa always enjoy their time with Rogan, and it's always great to be a part of one of those firsts.

Go Mama Go!

Rogan really had fun, and I think Nana did too!

Grandpa Steve was saving rotating his truck tires until Rogan could come and help. He was really excited to show Rogan the pneumatic tools. At first, Rogan was a little scared, but he warmed up eventually. Since Uncle Alex was there to help too, Rogan got to spread the love around.
