Mommy says...Rogan has begun to show interest in starting solids. He is trying to grab things from our plates and intently watches us as we put food in our mouths. We have let him lick our apples on several occasions and he seemed to like it. So, we decided to go ahead and give applesauce a try.
This was a good opportunity for Rogan's personality to come into play. Much like his daddy, Rogan is eager and willing to jump in and try anything the first time. However, after the initial excitement, he slows down and starts to think things through, just like mommy. The applesauce was no different. Rogan willingly took the first spoonful of applesauce and instantly swallowed it; not a drop was wasted. On the second spoonful only half made it down. Then on the third, his face scrunched up and every last drop was smeared on his hands, face, or bib. Fortunately for us, nothing went flying... at least this time! ;)

Of course a little video is always a big hit. You can also see this and other Rogan videos on RoganVision

Daddy says...
I received a phone call from our doctor last Tuesday informing me that Rogan had received an incorrect immunization shot at his last visit. Apparently he was given the formulation for a 2-year-old instead of for a 4-month-old. After explaining to me that there were no immediate health risks, our Doctor told me that we would need to bring him in ASAP to get him up to date so we didn't throw off his schedule.
We brought him in today for a quick shot. Everything went smoothly. He had gained nearly a pound and a half in the two weeks since our last visit. He was 17.7 lbs!!! Sheesh, no wonder our legs and backs have been getting so tired lately.
Anyway, one thing that really erked us about the visit was that we didn't once hear "I'm sorry about this" from the staff, including the nurse that had given the incorrect shot. Our doctor, Dr. Singh, did apologize to me on the phone, but that was the only time we heard it. Although we really love the doctor, we have serious concerns about the staff. It seems to be time to look for another doctor for our little boy.
Fortunately Rogan is doing OK. He's been very lethargic and the spot where he got the shot is more inflamed than any of the previous shots. We're keeping an eye on it but he seems to be in the clear.

Mommy says...Rogan continues to put everything he can get his hands on into his mouth. We are definitely kept on our toes trying to make sure anything within his reach is clean and safe for him. I asked Nana to put together a fabric book for Rogan so he could explore the textures and "tastes" of various materials. Being the smart little guy he is, it didn't take very long for him to figure out that the smooth, green leather tastes and feels a lot better in his mouth than all the other soft, furry fabrics. :)

"Thanks Nana!"

Mommy says...The weather here has been very cold and dry this past week. Needless to say there has been a little static in the air. After coming home from one of our "field trips" we took Rogan's hat off and this is what we found!

Not to be outdone, Daddy joined in on the silliness. :)

Nice hair guys!

Daddy says...Now that Rogan's motor skills are getting better he's very interested in grabbing and putting things into his mouth. He's recently rediscovered Sebastian and all that lovely white fur. Trouble is a brewin'!

"Hi Kitty, Can I play with you?"

Sebastian wasn't interested.
