An early birthday present
Saturday, August 16, 2008, 08:50 PM
Nana and Grandpa Steve got Rogan a birthday present a little early. Of course that's because they needed to set it up before the party! It was a home made swing set!

Nana and Grandpa Steve came over with Uncle Alex to help get things set up.

Rogan was checking us out while we were putting things together. He was especially fond of the power tools. I was telling him they were a little loud...

...and he got the message. :)

Of course Rogan couldn't just sit by and watch he had to come check things out.

Watching up close wasn't even enough, he had to get his hammer out and give us a hand.

Once we got everything all put together this was Rogan's first swing! Andrea didn't get to see it because she was at school getting ready for the upcoming school year. She got home a little later and got to give Rogan another special ride!

Rogan was very excited to share his swing with Nana.

Swings sets are timeless as this picture of Uncle Alex and Grandpa Steve shows. A new swing set will make you feel like you're a kid again...

Too funny!

Thanks Nana and Grandpa. We've used it every day and we can't wait to see the giant bow you're getting for the party!

New skills

Rogan has been working on some new skills. Right now he's able to stand up on his own and he's "walking" with a little help. He'll push his little walker all around his space. Going until he hits the gate, then turn himself around and go back the other way until he reaches the next gate. It's pretty darn cute. He's like the energizer bunny too, he just keeps going...

go go go!

back and forth and back and....

He'll also uses the laundry basket as a walker sliding it across the floor the same way. As you can see, he can get pretty excited!

Rogan has also been working on his guitar playing. He's got the strumming part DOWN! I'll finger a few different chords while he strums along the top. He'll get going pretty good and just start dancing and singing (screaming) along with the music!

Rogan is also learning to share. This is his first Slurpee. He enjoyed it so much he couldn't help but share.

"No really, you gotta try this!"

In classic Rogan fashion (pun intended) here is Rogan sporting a new, and totally ridiculous hat.

Poor kid, these pictures are on the internet for all to see :)

A Sunday with Nana and Grandpa
Sunday, August 10, 2008, 08:42 PM
Seafair weekend is full of events throughout the Puget Sound Area. I had a baseball game at Lower Woodland Park on Sunday morning. Lower Woodland is right next to Woodland Park zoo. Andrea and I invited Nana and Grandpa to come watch my game and then join us for a fun afternoon at the zoo.

It was a beautifully hot day. Again, we picked a great day to be at the zoo because there is so much shade. We had a nice picnic once we got inside and then were off to see the animals.

There were a few highlights, the Hippos were out of the water which we've never seen before and Gorillas were super cute. Because it was Seafair we also caught a glimpse of the Blue Angles flying overhead. Rogan loves his jet planes.

At the end of the day Nana took Rogan on the Old Fashioned Carousel. It was a big hit!

All of us at the zoo! Grandpa Steve, Nana, Rogan, Andrea and me.

Rogan playing with the BIG DRUM at Kindermusic. The little girl in white on the right is Rogan's girl friend! Mommy will have to explain in more detail. Quite the ladies man.

Rogan loves his musical instruments, especially when someone is playing along with him.

Our Smiley boy! He has a few more teeth now, so we just wanted to share this picture with his little bullfrog smile. Gotta love those two bottom teeth! :)

Rogan enjoying his Ollie the Octopus Chair his Nana and Grandpa gave him.
